Simple Minds went down a storm during their ninety minute set in the country's capital city, going on stage in the very early hours of Saturday morning to a rapturous applause from the 300,000 plus audience.

Intensely focused throughout the entire set. There was scant evidence to suggest the fact that it had now been over to months since the group had last played together. Neither evident was the reality that due to other circumstance, there had been almost no prior group rehearsal opportunity before stepping out on the festival stage. Deciding to "throw themselves at it ", pre-concert worries dispersed immediately as "Home" set the site alight. From then on in, both band and audience played equal part in making this the kind of night that will live on in memory. "Waterfront" seemed to explode, synchronised perfectly against the tall ships of the river plate - flowing beautifully only yards from the festival site. Equally a new highlight, " Hypnotized" - having been rested from the live sets of late - was back, more mesmeric than ever. Andy Gillespie on keyboards (back for a one off performance) was central to all things as usual.

Things came to an end finally and exhaustingly around 3 in the morning. With the resulting feeling around the band being that this long trip was definitely worthwhile. Little doubt remains that Argentina and its enthusiastic people will have to wait so long again to see Simple Minds play in concert.
