I've had a superb weekend in Amsterdam with my girlfriend in Amsterdam. Seeing a lot of familiar faces there: Paola (from Italy, thanks a lot for eveything!), Kerstin, Leo, André, Erwin, Clive, Regina and a lot more! We were early at Paradiso on saturday, hoping Simple Minds would do a soundcheck. And they did! The songs played during this soundcheck were (by head): Home (2 times), Stay Visible, The Jeweller, Part 2, Love Song, Alive And Kicking, Sanctify Yourself and Stranger. It was very nice to have a little "hello" with the bandmembers as they arrived on foot at the Paradiso. You can see some pictures below. We also met a very famous "side-kick" in front of Paradiso: Jan Paparazzi from the radio programm "Jensen in de middag". Mark Taylor was also present in Amsterdam, but didn't actually play. He can be seen on the picture where I'm standing together with Charlie.

The gig itself was fantastic!! The band was in a very good shape. Unfortunately (for me) they changed the setlist at the very last minute, replacing "Theme For Great Cities" by "Space". But I don't complain! A balanced setlist and I hope this will continue like this next year! Highlights for me this evening: New Gold Dream [81,82,83,84] and Factory. And thanks Mel for giving me the drumstick! It was totally broken in the middle. What a power this man got!

The man standing on stage is called "Frederic" and is the soundman of Simple Minds. I talked shortly with him before the soundcheck A nice Belgium guy.

After the show we were at a little bar / dancing upstairs in the Paradiso where we drunk some beers and there we sam the very famous "Ruud de Wild". Another DJ from Holland who appears to be a big fan of the Simple Minds. My girlfriend couldn't resist and I took a picture of her together with Ruud de Wild (last picture below).

Thanks to Paola we could go to the hotel where they stayed and there we were. Sitting in the bar drinkinga beer and seeing the bandmembers being in a very good mood. I couldn't resist walking to Jim at the end to shake his hand and to thank him for a wonderfull gig once more.

What a show, what a day!! Can't wait to see them again in Amsterdam!
